We’ve all dreamed of the absolute best Christmas possible, when EVERYTHING is perfect.
This is what my (or rather looked like) Christmas dream used to look like. A roaring fire in a small “cottage, very English indeed”. Beautiful furniture, a small decorated Christmas tree and soft blankets. Made for curling up on the sofa and reading a book. You have time for that in the Christmas dream.
Nicely wrapped Christmas presents are also part of my dream Christmas.
I would decorate the windswept door of my English cottage with homemade wreaths.
Then you can also dream of a Christmas in the French spirit and why not a grand Christmas in a castle…

Fine plant arrangements are a given outside the castle grounds.
A magnificent fir tree greets you in the foyer.
Then it will be a wonderfully beautiful fireplace mantel and….
and a table set in the same spirit.
Over the years, that dream of the ultimate Christmas has of course faded, people have become more crass and have had to adapt to realities.
These days, it’s in the small things that I see beauty and Christmas spirit
My dream Christmas has become more about flowers and flower arrangements. I don’t have the patience to tie wreaths, which I would like. But I could probably make a ribbon like this with pine cones for my kitchen chairs.
With simple means we managed to capture the Christmas spirit in our country kitchen last Christmas. A red ribbon around the candlestick and a vase of juniper. That’s all it needs.
