“Designer envy” is what my favorite English blogger, who is an interior designer herself, usually calls it when she shows pictures she has of other interior designers. http://deardesigner.co.uk/ I wanted to exclaim the same thing when I saw the latest issue of Sköna Hem where interior designer Caroline Endre’s latest home is shown. Caroline has almost made it a business idea to decorate an apartment, sell it and immediately start decorating a new home. You can see Caroline’s beautiful interiors here http://www.carolineendre.se/
What got me into a spin in her latest creation is how nicely she colors and that she uses such beautiful Toile de Jouy fabrics. I myself have a great weakness for Toile de Jouy. It is a pattern that actually suits most environments despite having an air of castles and history. The name means fabric from Jouy-en-Josas, a town in northern France that began manufacturing toiles in the late 18th century for castles and manor houses.
Here are a few pictures from Caroline Endre’s website:

Orange toile brings this beautiful living room environment to life.

A girl’s room with lavender-colored toile de Jouy wallpaper.

The black toile pattern can really give a lift to a small space like this bathroom.

This lobby at the Savoy in London impresses with its skillfully composed pattern mix, toile de Jouy wallpaper mixed with various animal patterns.

Here, different patterns and colors are mixed in a fresh way and it actually works. Stripes go well with the toile fabrics.
Meanwhile, things have gotten a little out of hand here…

It feels a bit too much, perhaps because the Bengale pattern from Manuel Canovas is very dominant in itself and is best used in small doses.
Here there is also a toile pattern on both walls and fabrics but the pattern is a bit more subtle and doesn’t take over in the same way. The pattern is called Ballons de Gonesse and comes from Charles Burger.
Finally, Tortuga saffron also from Manuel Canovas. I think it’s the same fabric that Caroline Endre used in the top picture.
