\There are probably many of you who have seen the American romantic comedy “Something’s gotta give” (original title: Something’s gotta give) with acting legends Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. Their performances in the film are of course excellent, but for me the most memorable role was played by the house itself and its interior, where most of the action takes place.
An airy Hampton beach house, right on the Atlantic Ocean. The house has walls of windows that are so incredibly stylish. The rooms are open and the colors are cream, blue, white and brown. The kitchen is the most striking with its glass cabinets, large kitchen island and generous space.

The American East Coast style, often called New England, is easy for Swedes to adopt. Probably because it fits well with our own archipelago style. The Swedish approach is classified in the USA as “Nautical”, i.e. with marine influences, but the fact is that the New England style is more than that. The genuine design is based on the colonial style (see previous post) with white as the base but with furniture made of dark wood. There is a lot of blue in the textiles.

Bedrooms also with a colonial feel. Venetian blinds are practical in the same way as blinds but with more finesse and of course much more stylish.
A spacious bathroom all in white. No accent color needed with the sea and sky as a backdrop.
This living room is quintessentially New England. The color combination of white and blue is so fresh.
