Yes, it may seem strange that I am writing a post about a minimalist when I am more or less at the other end of the scale. But sometimes I get tired of the boring and long for simplicity and then you can take a look at Liagre’s simple clean lines and sparse furnishings. In addition, Liagre stands for a refined elegance unlike the minimalism that has poverty as its guideline.
Liagre is best known as a furniture designer, but according to himself, he is primarily an interior designer. He designs furniture only to “fill the spaces”. As purist as he is, he says that his favorite period in interior design history is the 18th century, which may seem strange because so much swag and pomp was created then, the world has not seen anything since. But Liagre believes that it was the most creative period in history and it was Versailles that was the driving force in the development of fashion, furniture, jewelry and architecture, etc. He has a point there, the 18th century was a time when there was a lot of innovation that lives on into our century.
Now we’ll take a look at furniture and interiors created by Liagre. First, some interiors created for official spaces.

Pictures from the beach hotel Le Sereno on St. Barths. which Liagre has designed, it is certainly tasteful and sophisticated.

Furniture designed by Liagre. It’s minimalist but not boring at all. The colors are muted but there’s a warmth in the material choices, not at all like the boring Scandinavian minimalism which is more one-dimensional.

And sometimes unexpected pops of color like in the lovely sofas.
How is he doing at home then?
