Bedroom Bliss – Bed Canopies

I often look for bedroom pictures to find inspiration for photography for our bedroom environments for Alma House. I have amassed a large collection of bedroom pictures and now thought I would offer some bedroom inspiration. I have divided the pictures into different categories.

The first group are bedrooms that have a canopy bed. Not so common, but can be right for those who want a romantic bedroom. Canopies can look in different ways. What you might think of first is a kind of “roof” over the entire bed, but there are simpler variants where you just put fabric over the head of the bed.

First, a picture of a grand arrangement in a fancy setting. Here, a structure has been set up on the ceiling to drape the fabric (which appears to be silk) in all four corners.

A so-called “four poster bed” where the fabric should be able to be pulled over the bed. I would think that this construction comes from the English who used this type of bed in the tropics when they exercised their colonial power. When the bed is made of dark wood it is called a “four poster colonial bed” and then there was a mosquito net around the bed to avoid bites from the stinging insects.  Notice the beautiful wallpaper, I think it comes from de Gournay who makes hand-printed wallpaper.

Here we have a different type of set-up with a kind of cornice that is attached to the wall. A nice contrast is the animal-patterned footstool at the foot end.
