A splash of color

Sticking to a uniform, subdued color scheme when decorating is never wrong, and I admire anyone who has that ability and can still create a homely environment. If you want to be trendy, that’s absolutely right. The trendiest right now is gray, but also black/white, white as a solitary, and the so-called latte colors are still in. I sometimes manage to stick to neutrals, but more often than not, my body starts to tingle after at least getting a little something more colorful. The risk with neutrals is that the interior becomes too one-dimensional and monochrome, and often quite uninteresting. Now I’m going to show you how accent colors can be placed without significantly disturbing the neutral. Some of the pictures may displease the purists, we’ll see,,,

First some bedrooms. …

Dark gray, almost black walls are no problem when you have otherwise light furniture and textiles. But it’s the royal blue pillows that bring the bedroom to life.

Gray base with light pink sheets is nice. I like the combination of gray and pink.

Black and white are the basis here and a cushion in a strong cerise has been placed on the floor. A bit of a cheat because it is there temporarily. But it does its job and is a good example of how a splash of color works.

Many shades of gray in this bedroom that would be monotonous without the orange pillows.

Now we’re doing some living room… ..

Think what a difference a little splash of yellow can make.

Orange is a good accent color along with the neutral.

Sometimes a bouquet of red carnations is enough.

Conclusion: There is never a wrong with a neutral base and it is often preferable because it gives a lot of room to change with color. The easiest and most effective thing is to add small pops of color as we have seen above. If you don’t feel like running and buying colorful bouquets every week, the easiest thing is to add color with textiles such as pillows, curtains, chair covers, etc. Yes, the possibilities are endless. And just the fact that it can be easily replaced is a strong argument.
