In my last post I wrote (under the last picture) that it must have been a talented professional interior designer who managed to create such a harmonious unity of all the patterns and colors.
There is a golden rule in interior design, to use a maximum of three colors in a room to make it harmonious. It is a good rule to stick to if you are a beginner and not so sure. But then there are professional interior designers who completely defy this guideline. One of them is the Englishman Nicholas Haslam who is a master at mixing and matching patterns and colors. But we also have a talented interior designer in Sweden called Birgitta Örne who also has that real feeling for color and shape. Here are some pictures from their interior design projects.

A masterpiece by Nick Haslam, a salon in New Orleans. A gold wallpaper with winding flowers forms the backdrop to an eclectic mix of colors and patterns.

Nick Haslam often uses traditional English floral patterns in his interiors. Here is a typical English bedroom with a continuous floral pattern on both the wallpaper and textiles, combined with neutral beige curtains and striped lampshades.

Nick Haslam is also a talented artist. He paints his interiors before they are staged. I just have to show you this wonderful grand bathroom that he has created, on top in watercolor and underneath in reality.
